Basic Electronic Knowledge: Selection of Electronic Components

Electronic components are the basic components of the electronic system and the basic units of the circuit, which can complete the predetermined functions and can not be separated again. Due to the large number and variety of electronic components, their performance, reliability and other parameters have a great impact on the system performance, reliability, life cycle and other technical indicators of the entire electronic product.
Therefore, the correct and effective selection and use of electronic components is an important work to improve the reliability level of electronic products. The reliability of electronic components is divided into inherent reliability and service reliability. The inherent reliability is mainly guaranteed by design and manufacturing, which is the task of component manufacturers.
1、 General rules for material selection.
1. The selected equipment shall follow the company's normalization principle, and select as few material types as possible without affecting the function and reliability.
2. Priority should be given to materials whose "Preferred Grade" is "A" in the material code library.
3. The preferred life cycle is in the growth state. Mature equipment.
4. Select Birth. Special approval process shall be adopted for descending equipment.
5. Carefully select the equipment whose life cycle is declining, and it is prohibited to select the equipment whose production is stopped.
6. Packaging models with low Rja thermal resistance and high Tj junction temperature are preferred for power devices.
7. It is prohibited to use devices with package size less than 0402 (inclusive).
8. Anti ESD capacity shall be at least 100V, and anti-static measures shall be designed.
9. The MSL (humidity sensitivity level) of the selected components shall not be greater than Level 5 (inclusive).
10. The sealed vacuum packaging model is preferred. If MSL (humidity sensitivity level) is greater than level 2 (inclusive), sealed vacuum packaging must be used.
11. Tape packaging is preferred. Pallet packaging model. If it is equipment with humidity sensitivity level of Class II or above, it is necessary to package the disk shaped plastic tape, which must be able to withstand the high temperature of 125 ℃.
12. For key equipment, at least two brands can replace each other, and some need to consider scheme level replacement.
